Denis is a lifelong resident of Northern Uganda and has witnessed the impact of the two-decade long insurgency of the region. From an early age, he committed himself to grassroots efforts to improve the lives of former child soldiers, women, children and disabled persons - in short, those made most vulnerable by the ongoing conflict in his community. Wishing to combine his personal interests in helping his community with his professional pursuits, Denis studied at Kyambogo University and earned a degree in Social Work. Denis currently is a member of the Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (ARLPI) and has served as the ARLPI's secretariat since 2012. In late 2014, Denis traveled with the Goldin Institute to Mexico City, where he furthered his training in the ESPERE model for Reconciliation and Forgiveness. In his capacity with the Institute, Denis will continue to coordinate new training and ESPERE outreach programs within Northern Uganda to assist former combatants returning to civil society.
